….shopping your closet for costumes? Happy Monday! Halloween is just one week away while we want to get involved in a major way, we hate spending dough on meaningless costumes and always enjoy looking chic. So we partnered with one of our favorite DC bloggers Alina Gonzalez (from NBC’s The Feast and creator of the quirky fashion diary The Hyperbalist) to shop our own closets. On a beautiful fall day we raided the showroom and got super creative with a vast variety of colorful threads. Think of this little lesson as a DIY—ask yourself, what do I want to be for Halloween? How about a cute little kitty cat or a psychedelic flower child from the 60s? With a little imagination, the possibilities are endless—peep our selections for a little inspiration and get crafty in your closet on this fine fall day…psst: score $300 bones in this I DIE FOR DIY costume contest via Chictopia. Sweet!

why aren’t you . . . Tie-Dying Your Tee?
why aren’t you . . .
Tie-Dying Your Tee? Style Etoile has the fondest memories of our summer camp days—more than a few of which were spent tie-dying tees to create future vintage pieces (we were fashionistas from the start)— so we have decided to pay homage to those memories in a super stylish way. Ladies, run to your walk-ins and grab your favorite vintage tee because it is time for Style Etoile’s DIY fun with tie-dye edition. You will need a tie-dye kit, pre-shrunk tees, rubber gloves, and scissors.
1. Wash your top or cami.
2. Prepare your work space— make sure you cover all areas.
3. Carefully wrap rubber bands around your garment. Don’t be afraid to get creative and wrap them in different ways.
4. Slap those rubber gloves on and carefully dip your tee into multiple colors—don’t be afraid to mix different hues. Please Note: You can use squirt bottles if you are using multiple colors.
5. Let your tie-dyed tees soak for 6 to 8 hours.
6. Cut off the rubber bands and toss your tee in the washing machine (separately). Set your washing machine to “large” load and use hot water. Let the shirt dry.
7. Sick of the same old style tee? Get creative and crop it or cut the sleeves off. See image above for inspiration . . .
We hope you enjoyed our DIY with tie-dye and can’t wait to see all of you style stars at our tie-dye tee shirt contest this Saturday at the LOOSEWORLD pool party!

why aren’t you . . . Festival Ready?
why aren’t you . . .
. . . Festival Ready? We think it is more than a little obvious that we are obsessed with music and music festivals. In fact, Style Etoile probably wouldn’t exist without music. Festival season is well under way and we want to make sure that all of you style stars are festival ready. Whether it is a weekend in Chi-Town or a week in Black Rock Desert, we’ve got you covered. Here are a few festival fashion rules to follow . . .
1. Always sport something outrageous—sparkle suspenders or trousers should do the trick.
2. We really dig the tribal chic look—think feathers and frills.
3. Remember: this is a festival not a fashion show so please NO heels. Pack moccasins, chucks or oxfords.
4. Arm Candy: Stack those bracelets on honey. You can never have enough when you’re dancing in the moonlight.
5. Perfect Props: Be a good friend and buy gag gifts for your team—a sombrero, slap bracelets, or sunnies will do.
We will leave you with a little inspiration—check out model Dani Smith sporting her favorite leather fringe jacket and Indian headdress at Glastonbury in London.
